Ok so if you have a subscription to a computer magazine or, like me, you get the headlines from them in your inbox then your fairly up on whats hot and whats not. Those things which you are unfamiliar with can be evaluated with a small amount of research.
The problem arises when your not one of those who is in the loop and believe me when I say that in IT there are many many loops to be included and excluded from. Read More
Nanny get's her spoon broken.

Ok so for those who can’t see from the extra u in half the words and the less than perfect useage of punctuation, I am British.
As a Brit it seems I am to be exposed to more rules and regulations than make sense. The nanny culture is strong here. It seems that every day someone looks for something where someone died and then try to ban it.
It would seem that those doing this are well intentioned people but they don’t seem to be able to cure the myopia that is so prevelant with those of this mindset. After all if you remove the consequence from an action then you are both validating it and encouraging it. Read More
A splinter in your mind driving you mad.

Why is it that despite I know that practically everything has been discussed or studied before, often by those better educated and more qualified than myself, that I see fit to question and re question?
It’s like the matrix quote to me “a splinter in your mind driving you mad”. Read More
The illogical and it’s logic.

Now I’m not educated in this area and have never needed to know much about the intricacies of logical processes, tautologies and axioms. However I am now learning and it has occurred to me that if logical theories require axioms to function then there is a certain limit past which these scholarly people cannot go without tampering with their reliable logical crutch.
I think that on some instinctual level I have always picked this up and am known for arguing almost for arguing’s sake until the subject is analysed to the degree where the other person’s axioms can no longer be held true in all cases. Read More
When I am dead and gone you'll be glad of the sound of my voice.

I found a card sent by my Mother to me one Christmas, about two years after her death.
It rang a cord with me as it fitted some of her own theories and values.
Desiderata ~ Max Ehrman
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labours and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
Personally I think that despite the fact that I’m not religious I find that this piece of writing is still very pertinent to life.

Why do people find solace in a set of rules put in place by a body of people disconnected from the world around them?
I realise that not all religions follow the same path but it occurs to me that all of them impose rules on their follower’s lives. Why do they follow?
Surely it is possible to be able to relax knowing that you are a good person and should there be anything but darkness after death then, by common standards, you should be ok. Of course each religion has the clause that if you don’t believe as they do then your doomed but compared to the rest of it that part smacks of advertising at its most basic. Buy our product or be alienated/ less healthy/ out of fashion etc.
I would rather try to be a nice guy than go round panicking about the latest interpretation of thousand year old works in literature.

It has occurred to me that religious organisations have too much grace given to them. It is considered fine for their value system to segregate vast sections of the community and yet no responsibility is passed back to them for the fall out from these actions. For example although the Catholic church has taken against contraception and abortion for many years they are expected to have no responsibility for the numbers of children that will result from their rulings. Surely this kind of behaviour is wrong and contra to all the litigation regarding other types of organisation being unreasonable to members. The problem shouldn’t be skated around just because the members of this organisation are more fervent than others. It shouldn’t be that if you call your organisation a religion then the organisation itself is immune to prosecution just because they claim to be responding to a higher power. The casing point would be the irresponsible parts of the various Islamic and Muslim churches. Though they are known to have sections of their faith who defend the right to take terrorist action against others they aren’t required to do anything about it. Why Not?
