After all that hard work the new system is running great!!!
The 3D Mark listed is at present No. #1 !!! I haven’t even overclocked the system (well besides turning on the SLi memory to Max OC which is equivalent to about a 10% overclock on the CPU). Considering that many people have taken these 2.0 Ghz Core2s to about 3Ghz I think it’s mild).
Battlefield 2142 (the major reason for the computer besides the usual net & stuff) is now getting toward it’s harware limit of 100FPS and probably averages out about 65FPS which is perfect for me.
This is me happy. Make the most of it. I’m not usually so emotional

Okay so me and Lori have decided to make things official. We’re going to get married.
Now this causes me a little problem. Many people have mis-identified that I don’t really want to get married. This isn’t true. My lack of enthusiasm (especially when compared to Lori) isn’t because I object to getting married, quite the contrary, but more because I object to the wedding idea. Read More »

Ok so when I’m tired the walls of subjects blur and I either see things more as a whole or make connections which just aren’t there. You should see me try and do Sudoku when I’m tired. It only takes me about a minute to make an incorrect assumption and screw it all up.
Anyhow before this onset of tiredness began a realisation came to me in reference to logic (I know sad isn’t it that I consider such subjects when I should be relaxing, it’s sadder when you consider that this kind of thinking IS relaxing to me :S ). Read More »

Right I’ve just rebuilt my computer (see previous post regarding the new setup)Â with the whole innards being new practically. I’ve set it up and sorted out some good drivers. I’ve updated the BIOS to the latest flash. It now plays in battlefield 2142 at an FPS between about 85 and 45 (depending on environment) and will even switch back to desktop and then back into a running game without crashing or even complaining once!! (trust me, that last bit is very impressive though it says more about the setup of the program than it does about the hardware admitedly).
Anyhow I’ve researched all these new parts, I’ve slaved till the small hours to get it running well and to defrag and nurture it. So I decided to see just how quick it was.

Okay so why do I have like 3 versions of Windows XP? Well I started out with a copy of XP home as it was the cheaper of the XP operating systems and I thought there wasn’t going to be that much difference to me. I was wrong.
I picked up Windows XP Pro 64 bit just after it’s debut. I figured that I had a 64bit computer so why not get the operating system to match. Usually in computing if you get everything to match then you’re on a winner (doesn’t work with Asus motherboards and graphics cards it seems). Well I installed it once and most programs wouldn’t run on it and things crashed and generally it was unusable. I left it to decay in my disk collection like so many other disks. Read More »

Well I spent yesterday evening building up this new computer setup. I must admit that I had high hopes for this setup. The image of a beautiful case with a gale blowing through it as silent as a cold winter’s night, wires being skilfully routed into hidden corners and lights creating their own show within the case. Well the wiring is fairly neat, I did get a cable tidy kit with wire wraps but I think I’m going to have to experiment a bit before I’m happy with it all. The motherboard came with those round IDE cables, most impressive, but they are so rigid as to make corners more of a right angled affair than a smooth curve. Read More »

Those of you who have checked out my links on here will note that one Rivercrow has a site. The title of this site includes a subtitle which reads “observe, reflect, transform”. This mean’t very little to me origionally as I read it as a statement of purpose and as such irrelevant to myself. I’d read the statement as a declaration of the intent to observe others, relfect their behaviour back on them and in doing so transform via a new mask. It was only this passed weekend that I realised my interpretation was wrong. Read More »
